TRINIDAD It is worthwhile to note that some of ska's 'founding' members on Jamaica were actually born on surrounding islands: Barbados, Cuba and Trinidad. Trinidad brought forth Jamaican session guitarist Lynn Taitt and singer Ken 'Lord Creator' Patrick. Taitt played guitar with the Skatalites and was perhaps the most significant musician of rocksteady. The smooth ska-cuts of Lord Creator, like 'Evening News', 'Man To Man', and 'Don't Stay Out Late', were quite unlike anything anyone else was doing at that time. Trinidian Russ Henderson was active in Great Britain, especially with steelband music. He also released an album that contained some ska (see below). Henderson was also working together with Ezz Reco, best-known for the British ska hit 'King Of Kings'. French pressing and British pressing |
