LESTER LANIN Lester Lanin (born 1911) supervised a dance band that performed nice, polite tunes for high-society functions. They were most famous for playing at a string of presidential inaugural balls, beginning with Dwight Eisenhower, and also did many dates in Europe for royalty. His album Dancing At The Discotheque - with music to dance the Twist, the Monkey, the Dog, the Watusi, etc. - also contains 'West Indies Ska'. This is a suprisingly good, up-tempo tune, with lots of organ.
